My Story

The photo of me was taken in Perth in April 2015. I was starting to experience discomfort and digestive issues. I told my friend who we were visiting I felt there was something wrong and would see my GP on my return home. For the next eight months I battled to get a diagnosis as my health deteriorated. I was losing weight and most food I ate was vomited back up. The medics labelled me as being constipated and I struggled to get help. I eventually paid to have a colonoscopy in December 2015 where the tumour was discovered in my descending colon. I ended up going to Christchurch for surgery, I had a stoma for 8 months and had 6 months of chemo. Right now my health is great, thanks to the wonderful medical people I am NOW in the care of. Listen to your body and fight for your rights. I am doing this to help raise awareness for Bowel cancer New Zealand and the wonderful work they do

Are you ready to go meat free for one week in support of Bowel Cancer New Zealand? At BCNZ, we're passionate about encouraging New Zealanders to eat a healthy, balanced diet.

Going meat free for seven days is a great way of getting Kiwis to think about the amount of meat they eat and the impact eating too much meat may have.

You can take part in two ways: click on JOIN TEAM if you're up for the challenge of one week without meat or GIVE NOW to donate much needed funds that will go towards New Zealanders and their families/whānau affected by bowel cancer.
